I have another finish!

Hello! I started this little piece last week and actually finished it yesterday during lunch. I really do love these little birds and eggs! This one is Robin on an Egg by Bent Creek. I believe that it is on Flax by Wichelt and is using a conversion of Week’s Dye Works flosses. Now I’ll need to go find the other egg that I have and stitch it as a companion piece. Isn’t he cute! 🙂

I have a finish!

Good morning, everyone! I wanted to pop in and show you my new finish! I’m so pleased with it. It is Blue Flower by The Workbasket. I tweaked the colors just a bit to work better with my fabric, which is Parisian Blue Stripe. Unfortunately, I don’t know the maker. The flosses are all DMC – #3052, #520, #791 and #793. This is my first time ever beading and under the guidance of my sister, Laura and friend, Judy, I think I did a pretty good job! What do you think?

Oh! I wanted to share with you about my scissor fob. At our February Retreat, I surprised everyone with a new fob made from buttons. These were very special to me because they were from my Mom’s button tin. I just hated that they were languishing there with no one to see how pretty they all were. So, I thought about it and decided that she would have enjoyed being shared with all my friends. Jamie sorted all of them into color families for me, and I then laced them all together. I made 27 of them and everyone seemed really pleased. I’m so glad that Mom is smiling on each of them with a little bit of herself shining through her buttons. 🙂

I had a very wonderful weekend! Laura and I spent time with our friend, Judy. On the way to her home, we met up at Heart’s Desire, in Wichita, KS. We just couldn’t help ourselves and all of us had to add to our stash. 😉 That is just such a lovely store! There are just so many beautiful finishes. I love that because you can see what your piece is actually going to look like once you’re done. You know, those package pictures don’t always do justice to the piece and seeing the samples in person is just fabulous!

From there, we went to a quilt shop in Park City, KS (I think…). Wow! The fabric there was just awesome! I’ll have to go back there when I have lots of time and money. 😀

Next stop was downtown Peabody! We went to a couple of antique stores there – Flint Hills Gypsies and I think the other one was Fannie Sterling 1884. They were both so much fun and had so many pretties! I bought a small corner shelf that I just love and even though I don’t know where it’s going quite yet, I know it will shine brightly!

From there, we headed home to Judy’s and spent such a wonderful evening stitching, sharing and just having so much fun. Judy’s husband, Larry joined us for dinner and we had some great conversation. Judy’s table is always set so pretty! She has some very pretty dishes and it just makes you feel like you’re royalty to be at her table. She is a wonderful hostess! And then add in Shadow, her beautiful black poodle, and what more could a girl ask for?

We hated leaving on Sunday morning, so we stayed until early afternoon, then reluctantly headed back home. It’s a lovely drive and the day was absolutely gorgeous. Laura and I had a great time and look forward to reciprocating! We even did some retreat business during the drive and made some good progress there!

I think I’ll leave you for now…. I’ll come back and start posting all my finishes that I had during my hiatus so you’ll be up to date with me. Until then….

Have a wonderful stitchy week!

Nancy

Where have you been???

I’ve been looking for you, but couldn’t find you!  😉

It’s been such a long time since I’ve talked with you. The last time was when my son, Eric was getting married to my wonderful daughter-in-law, Jamie. 3 YEARS AGO! So, so happy that he married her and they are happy together.  Time has really flown! I’m sure you know how it is…life just gets in the way.

Since then, I have been very busy! My sister, Laura and I wanted to do something different and were thinking of starting a business of some sort. We looked at lots of different options and just couldn’t settle on any one thing. We were approached by a few of our friends and asked if we would plan a retreat for them. Of course, it’s all around cross stitch! 😀 We thought about it, figured out how we wanted it to look and we started hosting retreats! Yes, that’s right! Last year, we held our first Crossed Borders retreat. The name came from the fact that this group is from Kansas and Missouri and we cross borders and stitches.  We had 25 ladies attend and it was a huge success.  All of them signed up again for this year’s retreat and we couldn’t have been happier!

We were told over and over that we needed to start our own Flosstube channel because we were doing crazy videos for our retreat group. We kept saying, Flosstube, what’s Flosstube???  Well, Flosstube is a YouTube channel all about cross stitching. Just a few weeks before our first retreat, Laura called me and told me to watch a couple of Flosstubers that she had found.  I did, called her back and that was it! We just did it! We are The Addicted Sisters and we are definitely addicted to cross stitch! It started out as just something that we were going to try, maybe just once in a while. Well… once we got started, we were hooked! We try to post a new video every Saturday. Check us out here and join in our craziness. Who knows, you just might become addicted too! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXRyidlUGk6X0hjW-n31oVg/videos

Not wanting to rest on our laurels, we decided to add to this madness and host a HUGE retreat for all of our followers! Crazy, huh? Because we’re in Missouri, we’re calling this retreat Show Me. That’s also what you ask another stitcher once you get together, right? Show me what you’re working on! 🙂 Our first retreat is going to happen in July of this year! Needless to say, we are excited, scared, and hoping that it too will be a success. We have about 70 people signed up now and they are coming from all over… Australia, Canada, and most of the continental US.  We are really looking forward to hosting this one.  We’ve made some lovely friends and it will be wonderful to talk with them face to face.  Our Flosstube recently reached 2,000+ followers who are from all over the globe.  We are so pleased and humbled.  Thank you to you all!

I really need to let you go now, but I will definitely try to get back here more often and of course, start sharing my cross stitch again!  I have so much to show you!  Until next time…. happy stitching!
